THE FACT that members were a day early on April 3 with their greetings didn't seem to matter as members wished the chairman, Mr Arthur Hill, a very happy 90th birthday. He was presented with a signed card and special birthday cake and now joins a select band of honorary members, all over 90. At the end of the month his wife Win will also be 90.
Apologies were taken and Mrs Doris Bilverstone was welcomed back after her recent stay in hospital. Normal business completed, the guest arrived who was none other than Peggy Slocombe, singer and comedienne. She kept everyone entertained for nearly an hour with her songs and stories.
Tea was served and the birthday cake cut and enjoyed before the meeting closed at 4.15pm. A reminder that April 10 will be the mystery tour, leaving at 9am followed by the next meeting on April 17 with a demonstration by Wiltshire Farm Foods.
