GENTLE giant' Jamie
Knight is a dedicated
volunteer and fundraiser
in South Petherton.
The 17-year-old, who is
6ft 8ins tall and who
works for Cronite
Castings of Crewkerne, is
a member of the local
youth parish council,
serving as deputy
chairman and now
secretary.
He works with the local
youth club management
committee and action
group and is quick to
stand up for young
people.
His award nomination
reads: "Often referred to
as the gentle giant', he
always has a smile on his
face and seems to
understand the needs of
older and younger
people.
"He is very keen to help
anybody and
join in with
village life and
enjoys being
part of Carnival.
"He'll have a go at
anything, from discos to
bingo calling, and is very
much a people person."

Jamie also supported
his family through
bereavement and illness
and has raised £1,500 for
Children in Need.
