SPECIAL youngsters from around the county gathered for the first Pride of Somerset Youth Awards on Friday.

And four young people from the Yeovil area were judged winners in the new award scheme run by Rotary International, your Express and Orchard FM.

Included among the winners was 11-year-old George Brown, who has shown courage in the face of adversity.

Keen footballer George, from Yeovil, has kept a smile on his face while undergoing major operations on his heart because part of his aorta was too big.

His award nomination reads: He is still helping others by coaching and running the line for his old team and refereeing to assist younger ones at school - and he is still smiling!
