A live concert performance based on the hugely popular Johnny Cash Show is coming to The Princess Theatre.

The two-hour production, titled Johnny Cash Revisited, will take place on August 9 at 7.30pm.

Based on the era between 1969 to 1971, the show throws it back to when Johnny Cash was at his career pinnacle across the globe, riding off the triumph of his monumental At Folsom Prison and San Quentin albums.

Johnny Cash Revisited transports audiences back to the start of his musical journey at Sun Records in Memphis.

It artfully delivers a broad anthology of his greatest hits spanning from the 1950s through the ensuing decades.

Some of the timeless classics expected to make the setlist are Folsom Prison Blues, I Walk The Line, Big River, Ring of Fire, and A Boy Named Sue.

Fan-favourite duets with legendary June Carter, such as Jackson and It Ain't Me Babe are also promised.

Featured within the concert is an impressive live band called Starkville, tasked with offering a full two hours of unparalleled entertainment.

They've got a special segment where they honour artists who were given career-defining opportunities via appearances on Johnny Cash's TV show.

Audiences can anticipate hit songs from Derek and The Dominoes, and Creedence Clearwater Revival.

Also joining him on this retrospective journey is his wife, June Carter, The Tennessee Three, and their shared musical comrades.
