THE WANTED are the first UK boy band ever to have a top 3 US iTunes hit – with ‘Glad You Came’ rises to Number 1 in the US iTunes Pop Chart.

They have become the first British boy band to hit such dizzy heights since Take That reached number seven with ‘Back for Good’ in 1995.

They are also the first boy band to hit the top 10 on the US AirPlay chart since the Backstreet Boys and the first British boy band to have a Canadian iTunes number one.

Not since Take That reached number seven in 1995 have a UK boy band even come close to this level of success in America. Many have tried, but none have made quite the splash the UK’s leading boy band The Wanted have achieved – and in such a small space of time.

The boys’ UK Number one single ‘Glad You Came’ has risen to Number two in the iTunes US chart and Number one in the US iTunes pop chart - making them officially the first UK boy band to hit such impressive heights in the US. The band are also currently Number 1 in the Canadian iTunes Chart.

The Wanted are proud to be flying the British flag in the US, spearheading a British invasion on the US charts. Artists including Jessie J, Coldplay and Adele have all made their mark and now the boys are proving they have what it takes on the global stage.

It has also been confirmed that The Wanted are the first boy band to hit the top 10 on the US Airplay chart since the Backstreet Boys with ‘Incomplete’.

The incredible story in the US is only getting bigger, with the confirmation this week of a live performance on the Jay Leno show in March. This is the latest in a line of incredibly high profile TV appearances including the Ellen Show and Chelsea Lately. The band have also been confirmed for MTV’s Spring Break Las Vegas as they continue their assault on the United States.

The Wanted have recently finished their debut sold out US tour and are currently on their sold out UK arena tour which takes in London’s O2 Arena this Saturday (March 3).

Ashley Tabor, founder and executive president of Global Talent, who formed The Wanted some two years ago, said “It’s absolutely fantastic to see all the boys’ hard work paying off, not just within the UK but now also internationally. There’s lots more to do, but to think that they started by performing schools tours around the UK only two years ago, and today have a Top 3 hit in the US and a No1 in Canada, tells you why I’m so delighted for them, British music and the whole Wanted team.”
