Festivalgoers have played their part in reducing crime at Glastonbury 2008 by taking part in the arrest of a suspected thief.

At around 5am, two women were asleep in a tent in a camping area near the rear of the Pyramid Stage when they were disturbed by noises from a communal area.

Upon realising their tent had been entered and property had been stolen, one of the women noticed a man near by.

She then followed the man and alerted festival security staff.

The man was then seen again, before he was approached by the two women and other festival goers, being detained by them.

The suspect, aged 29 from Bristol, has since been arrested on suspicion of drugs and theft offences.

He currently remains in custody at the Royal Bath and West Showground.
