There are now 125,000 festivalgoers on site at Worthy Farm as Glatonbury's main entertainment is about to kick off.

Crime now stands at 213 reports, including drugs offences.

This figure is 109 reports excluding drugs offences.

This compares to 144 reports, including drugs at this stage in 2007, there were 34 reports excluding drugs offences.

A police spokesman said: "The increase is almost entirely down to an increase in theft from tents, with 127 reports compared to 19 at this stage in 2007.

"However, due to proactive work by police and security staff in the last 24 hours, this increase has slowed dramatically.

"Police are continuing to warn people to look after valuables, sleep with their possessions and use the free lock ups on site.

"Arrests now stand at 54, compared to 71 at this stage in 2007."

The A37 at Pylle remains closed due to the fire at Rossiter's scrap yard.

This will remain closed for much of the day while emergency services remain on site.
