THOUSANDS of music fans will descend on Somerset this week - eagerly awaiting some of the planet's biggest artists at the Glastonbury Festival.

The world-renowned event, which runs from Friday to Sunday at Worthy Farm, boasts Blur, Neil Young and 'The Boss' Bruce Springsteen as its headliners, with crowds praying for a rain free festival.

And it seems likely to be sun-soaked rather than rain-soaked for fans, with warm weather expected in the run up to the weekend.

After last year's controversial choice of rapper Jay Z as a headliner, organiser Michael Eavis has opted for a more traditional guitar based trio to dazzle those watching at the Pyramid Stage.

Blur will make one of their first live performances since reforming earlier this year when they close the festival, while music fans will surely be delighted by the inclusion of Neil Young.

But Springsteen, coming to the festival with his E Street Band, was the real coup for Glastonbury 2009.

With new album 'Working On a Dream' out now, The Boss promises a stunning live performance to rock the main stage on Saturday night.

Other top artists on show include Leicester rockers Kasabian, Franz Ferdinand, Bloc Party, Lilly Allen and The Prodigy.

Older festivalgoers will also be in for a treat with Tom Jones, Tony Christie, Status Quo and Ray Davies all set to perform.

Black Eyed Peas will be performing on the Jazz World Stage, while the dance tents and a silent disco will also be in full swing.

Those looking to escape from music can take a look around the Green Fields or the popular Trash City.
