BRUCE Springsteen and his E Street Band rocked the Pyramid Stage at Glastonbury last night - in a set lasting just short of three hours.

'The Boss' put on a triumphant show for his first UK festival appearance, as he charged from the stage to the crowd and back all night long to spine-tingling cheers.

But the New Jersey rocker caused a bit of a stir by leaving out arguably his biggest known hit - Born in the USA.

Saturday night started with Leicester indie kings Kasabian getting the crowd all fired up.

To rapturous applause the band took audiences through the anthems on their first three albums.

'Shoot the Runner', 'Empire' and 'Processed Beats' came and went before band and crowd alike launched themselves into recently released single 'Fire'.

Song LSF sent Kasabian on their way - before even more fans crowded next to the Pyramid Stage for Springsteen.

He treated UK fans to classics including 'Born to Run' and 'Dancing in the Dark' during his marathon set.

Springsteen also paid tribute to former Bridgwater resident and Clash lead singer the late Joe Strummer, by covering song 'Coma Girl'.

Over on the Other Stage, Franz Ferdinand got everybody's feet moving with a set bursting with hits, including 'Take Me Out' and 'No You Girls'.

Saturday night also saw appearances by Jarvis Cocker and dance-rock outfit Pendulum.
