Miley Cyrus is going to be making another visit to the MTV Video Music Awards, one year on from her shock performance with Robin Thicke.

The Wrecking Ball singer stunned the audience and viewers when she arrived on stage in a nude latex bikini and twerked at Robin while touching herself suggestively with a giant foam hand while he performed his hit Blurred Lines.

Now, the pop star is due to go back to the awards ceremony as she is on this year's invite list, according to E!.

She will see Nicki Minaj, Jessie J and Ariana Grande perform opening number Bang Bang, with Taylor Swift and Beyonce also on the performance list for the evening.

Brit singer Sam Smith will be making his VMAs debut, singing his hit Stay With Me.

Beyonce has the most nominations for the awards at eight, and Eminem and Iggy Azalea are not far behind with seven each.

The Video of the Year award will be fought out between Beyonce's Drunk In Love, Iggy's Fancy, Pharrell Williams' Happy, Sia's Chandelier and Miley's Wrecking Ball.

Robin and Miley's twerk-heavy routine last year was said to be one of the contributing factors to Robin's wife Paula Patton getting fed up of his behaviour and leaving him.

At the time, Robin's mum Gloria Loring said of the performance: "I just keep thinking of her mother and father watching this. Oh, Lord, have mercy. I was not expecting her to be putting her butt that close to my son. The problem is now I can never unsee it.

"I don't understand what Miley Cyrus is trying to do. I just don't understand. I think she's misbegotten in this attempt of hers. And I think it was not beneficial."

She added of her son: "Him? Loved it. I love that suit, the black and white suit."
