The name of the new Star Trek television series to be shown on Netflix has been revealed.

Star Trek: Discovery will be available to watch on the streaming service in the UK from January, within 24 hours of episodes being broadcast in the US.

The show’s executive producer Bryan Fuller announced the title – which comes from the name of the starship Discovery – during a panel at Comic-Con International in San Diego.

All 727 episodes of previous Star Trek television series including the original 1960s show starring William Shatner will be available to watch on Netflix by the end of the year.
