Unique event for ladies who shoot and bake
4:00pm Sunday 25th November 2012 in What's On
The ladies of the Shotgun and Chelsea Bun Club.
THE first Shotgun and Chelsea Bun Club event in Somerset will take place near Cheddar on Saturday, December 1.
Founded by Victoria Knowles- Lacks, judge at the inaugural Great Burnham Bake Off in September, the club is a unique ladies only introduction to clay shooting and baking.
The day at Brook Bank Shooting Club will include an instructor-led session of shooting a variety of targets before the ladies reconvene in the clubhouse for tea and homemade cake.
Beverley and Sarah Milner Simonds, South-West representatives for the club, said: “There is an element of competition as the score cards are counted up and there is a prize for the highest scoring ladies and a rosette for the best cake.
“The ladies are encouraged to show off their baking skills and bring a cake along.”
The club is open to all girls who are big enough to hold a gun, with the lower age limit normally at 12.
The event starts at 10.45am and costs £45 to include 30 cartridges and clays and the hire of guns and safety equipment. Places are limited and booking is essential.
