IF you prefer to avoid the crowds in the run-up to Christmas, a different seasonal shopping experience awaits you at Spring Farm in Moorlinch.

The venue is hosting its annual Christmas Art Fair from today until Sunday (November 30 to December 2), where the resident artists hope to light up your weekend.

They will be offering a host of special gifts produced in their workshops and studios: pottery, paintings, prints, jewellery, glass, handbags, calendars, cards and ornaments - beautiful things you won't find in any department store.

Jenny Graham, Nancy Farmer and Anne Farmer offer paintings in oils, watercolours, gouaches and etchings, as well as cards and calendars, while Clio Graham shows her delightful pottery, inspired by the Somerset countryside.

Helen Jones dazzles with her delicate hand-made jewellery, and for much of the weekend you will be able to watch the thrilling sight of the Silver Tree Crystal glassblowers at work.

As always, the artists will be on hand to talk about their work in a relaxed setting. At the late-night shopping opportunity on the Friday, there will also be complimentary seasonal refreshments to create a party atmosphere.

Jenny Graham said: “We are looking forward to welcoming visitors once again to Christmas at Spring Farm, and to help them find that unique present. Forget the bright city lights - here you have Christmas on your doorstep.”

It is free entry to the fair, which is open 11am to 8pm on Friday and 11am to 5pm on Saturday and Sunday.
