BURNHAM District Pantomime Society’s production of Jack and the Beanstalk opens today (Friday).

The show, an uplifting take on this traditional family favourite, runs until February 2 at The Princess Theatre and Arts Centre in Burnham.

Lisa Davis plays Idle Jack, Frank Neill is Giant Blunderbore, Melvyn Shephard plays Dame Trott and Rob Blackmore is Dozy Den.

Other roles go to Phoebe Harling (Fairy Beansprout), Joe Tohill (King), Emma Nicholson (Princess Rose), Alastair Murray (Prime Minister), Emma Twigg (Poison Ivy), Em Burland and Yanika Johnson (Buttercup the Cow), and Mo Cooper (Giant’s housekeeper).

The production is directed by Lorna Blair assisted by Emma Twigg with Siobhan Johnson as musical director.

The senior chorus includes Pam Date, Val Holmes, Frank Neill, Katie Shephard, Molly Kempton, Harvey Nicholls, Zoe Nicholson, Emily Elswood, Shannon Manlow, Lorna Davey, Harley Shadbolt, Owen Twigg, Georgia Twigg, Luke Harrington, Archie Williams and Gabbie Blair; while Louisa Arthur, Daisy-May Karks, Elena Mitchell, Frejya Buttery and Eleni Markoutsas make up the junior chorus.

Curtain-up is at 7pm and there will also be two 3.30pm matinees on Saturday and Sunday (January 26 and 27).
