POSTCARD pictures by professional artists, celebrities, amateurs and students are being exhibited at Hestercombe Gardens, near Taunton.

Each piece of original artwork is on sale for just £25, but the buyer will not find out who has produced the work until after they have bought it as the pictures are only signed on the back. Actor Trevor Peacock, best known as Jim Trott in The Vicar of Dibley, has donated a piece, as has wildlife presenter Johnny Kingdom.

Organiser Hannah Bradshaw also said the team have been promised work from some footballers. “We have Professor Mick Aston and Admiral Sir Michael Layard, but mostly we have some well known artists, not only from Somerset, but from as far afield as Australia.

“The wonderful thing about Brief Art is that we also have some young artists who might one day become the Damien Hirst or David Hockney of tomorrow, so people could end up buying a masterpiece.”

The exhibition starts today (February 16) and is open from 10.30am to 4.30pm at Bampfylde Hall.

Admission is free with all donations going to St Margaret’s Somerset Hospice. The last Brief Art Event in 2010 raised almost £10,000.
