LOVERS of Dixieland Jazz can enjoy a foot-tapping treat at the Friendly Spirit Inn, Cannington, when one of Somerset’s top jazz outfits, The Darktown Strutters, makes its first appearance in the Bridgwater area.
The seven-piece band (pictured), booked for both the Watchet and Llama music festivals this summer, is led by Bristol trumpeter and composer Geoff Nichols, who frequently played with Acker Bilk and also founded the celebrated Avon Cities Jazz Band.
The Darktown Strutters are known for their energetic and exuberant style and will be playing jazz classics plus lots of well-known tunes for the audience to sing along to on Sunday, February 17, at 2pm.
