Guided walk on Dartmoor

Dartmoor Preservation Association will lead a guided walk along the moorlands, lanes and footpaths of the north western fringes of Dartmoor on March 23.

Starting off at 10am, the seven-mile walk will begin at the Willsworthy Range car park and head towards the Wheal Jewell reservoir and the tiny hamlet of Zoar.

The walk should take around five hours and guests are welcome to bring a packed lunch and drinks and are advised to dress for all weathers.

Craft fair in Weston

A selection of the region’s best craft workers and artists will exhibit their wares at The Winter Gardens in Weston on Saturday, March 30 and Sunday, March 31.

The event is hosted by Kevin Murphy Craft Fairs, which prides itself on selecting only the finest craftworkers to exhibit at its events.

Among the items sold by his regular stallholder are hand-made jewellery, textiles, bags, baby clothes and fine art pieces.

Reg Meuross to perform in Frome

Acclaimed singer-songwriter Reg Meuross will perform at East Woodlands Village Hall near Frome on from 7.30pm Saturday, March 16.

His latest album Leaves and Feathers, recorded at the famous Abbey Road Studios, was described as ‘stunning’ by BBC Radio 2 DJ Mike Harding and he has won praise from fellow folk artists on both sides of the Atlantic.

Mothering Sunday event

Mothers will be given free entry to the Walled Gardens of Cannington and Tea Rooms on Mothering Sunday (March 10).

Children will also be able to paint ceramic gifts for their mums at the popular attraction, which boasts a stunning array of horticultural wonders, set within the grounds of a medieval priory.

The gardens, open from 10am to 5pm, provide a superb facility for students at Bridgwater College Cannington Centre and many of the plants on sale in the plant shop have been grown on-site.
