ONE of the most enduring musicals of the ’60s is coming to the Playhouse Theatre next month.

Talented actors and actresses from Weston Operatic Society first performed multiple Tony award-winning show Hello Dolly 25 years ago and are now reviving it.

Robbie Burns will play Horace Vandergelder, store owner and halfmillionaire, and Maureen Wycherly will play the interfering widow and professional matchmaker Dolly Levi, who is in search of love.

Set in New York at the turn of the last century, the show has many memorable songs including Put On Your Sunday Clothes, When The Parade Passes By and, of course, the title song itself, Hello Dolly, made famous by the late Louis Armstrong.

Overall, it has had no fewer than three Broadway revivals since its first appearance in 1964 and some may remember the film version which was made famous by Barbara Streisand.

The show is running for four days, starting on Wednesday, April 3. Tickets cost between £11.50 and £15. For more information, visit www.theplayhouse.co.uk
