'Sesame Street for grown-ups' at Blakehay Theatre Weston
3:03pm Thursday 22nd August 2013 in What's On
‘SESAME Street for grownups’ hits Weston next week with its West End smash hit.
Avenue Q, the tongue-incheek puppet show, gets its South West premier thanks to Sunshine Productions and its cast of Weston performers, who are bringing the Tony award-winning musical to the Blakehay Theatre’s stage.
It tells the story of Princeton, a bright-eyed college graduate trying to follow his dreams in Avenue Q, where “life sucks”.
Being jobless, homeless, drunk, un-PC, and having sex, all feature in the songs shows.
With it’s all-singing, all-dancing musical ‘fur fest’, it’s been dubbed a hybrid of South Park and The Muppet Show, with a wicked sense of humour – but as such, it isn’t suitable for children.
Labyrinth, Sesame Street, and The Muppet’s puppet mastermind, Nigel Plaskitt, has even been roped in to give the cast their specialist puppet-handling training.
The show plays from Thursday, August 29 until Saturday August 31, with performances at 8pm plus a Saturday matinee from 3pm.
Tickets are £14 (£10 matinee) and age limit is 14 and above. Book online at www.bookavenueq.co.uk or call the theatre box office hotline on 01934-645493.
