The Turnip Prize 2013 - Could you win?
12:00am Friday 1st November 2013 in What's On
FOR the biggest names in art it’s the Turnip Prize, not the Turner Prize, that flags up some truly unexpected talent.
This lesser-known, spoof art award invites creations from anyone and everyone – so long as the least amount of effort possible has been put into their artwork.
From Friday, November 1, the race is on to find the person who most captures the scrappy Turnip Prize spirit.
Last year’s honoured winner, picked from 86 entries, was Miss Quick from Clutton, who wowed the art-loving public with her hastily compiled work, “The Three Tenas – a packet of Tenas with three sticking out of the top.
To be in the running for this year’s Turnip Prize contact Trevor on 01934- 710004 or 07812848011, James on 07825192923, or the New Inn at Wedmore.
The closing date for entries is Thursday, November 21, with judging on Monday, December 2, from 6.30pm at the inn – for more info visit www.turnipprize.com or the Facebook page.
