YOU never quite know what Richard Lennox will play next - but you know it will be good.

The talented musician from Weston, can switch from Bach to the Beatles without dropping an A-sharp in between.

Richard will open the new season at the town's Blakehay Theatre next month with a show billed as A Night of the Classics.

He will be joined by Bristol soprano, Claire Delaney, in a programme of music from composers such as Strauss, Elgar, Gershwin and Copland.

For someone who has performed at venues including The Royal Albert Hall as well as appearing on the BBC's Songs of Praise, it's difficult to imagine Richard is primarily a self-taught musician.

He first first discovered the piano when he was three and is now just as at home on the organ and double bass. In addition, he is widely renowned for arranging, producing and composing music.

"I know it sounds strange but I'm trying to specialise in as many areas as possible," he explained.

"It's just about doing as many concerts as possible and combining it with the crossover music that I've developed."

Richard is just the first in a superb line up of live shows at the Blakehay. Following quickly will be ‘3 Ways to Broadway’ with the Sunshine singers which features a compilation of songs from three different styles of Broadway musicals- Some Forgotten, some Forbidden & some Favourites.

The New Year is welcomed in with ’Crazy for Gershwin. The show charts the life of the composer through his music.
