WESTON may be better known for its fish and chips than sushi.

But comic Alan Davies will be steering clear of the former when he appears at The Playhouse later this month.

He confesses that just before a show, he spend a lot of quiet time in his changing room eating raw fish.

"If I eat anything too heavy before I go on stage, I feel sleepy," says the star of Jonathan Creek and QI.

"One time I had fish and chips and a fizzy drink and ten minutes in, I fell light-headed."

Alan's currently on tour with his latest sell-out show, Little Victories. Like his previous award-winning shows, he focuses on life and the mysteries of life, but not always in that order.

Much lauded as resident dunderhead on QI or the charming but reticent crime solver Jonathan Creek, Davies virtuosic story-telling and whip-smart funny bones combine to make this a show not to be missed.

He began his career in stand-up comedy in 1988 and was runner-up in the City Limits New Act of the Year contest 1989. He was named Time Out Best Young Comic in 1991 and made his network television debut on Tonight with Jonathan Ross in 1992.

In 1994 he won an Edinburgh Festival Critics Award for Comedy and a Perrier Award Nomination and the show was released on VHS as Live At The Lyric.

In 1996, Jonathan took the eponymous role of Jonathan Creek. The show continues to attract huge audiences and has won numerous awards, including a BAFTA and a National TV Award.
