THE weather outside may be frightful but Serenade Big Band will keep you cosy and warm with an evening of swing favourites and Christmas classics.
Santa hats and tinsel halos are positively encouraged when the boys and girls get together on Saturday, December 12 at the Princess Theatre in Burnham.
You can expect the usual sounds as well as a few surprises and you can singalong to all your favourites.
Serenade Big Band was formed in 1988 by Mr Dave Rogers as part of the internationally renowned Bristol Unicorns Marching Band.
Over the years as marching bands declined, Dave remodelled the band from marching to concert band and eventually to an 18 piece dance band which still boasts some of the original members.
When Dave retired in 2000 the band members carried on his good work under a new musical director, Simon Porter, and changed it’s name to Serenade.
This name was drawn from the famous Glen Miller tune Moonlight Serenade and, as a tribute to the great Glen Miller, also uses it as it’s theme tune.
The band has grown over the years and play at a varied host of venues.
