7.30pm - see in the new year in style with the Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra’s traditional celebration of Johann Strauss, the King of Waltz. Don’t miss your chance to hear his waltzes, marches and polkas as they should be heard – played by a full symphony orchestra. The Brewhouse, Taunton.

8pm - folk music night at the Ritz Social Club, Victoria Street, Burnham. Most nights are open mike controlled by an MC. Occasional special acts and special meal nights.

7.30pm - Instant Wit present an evening of songs, gags and general silliness based around audience suggestions. Theatre at the Bay, Weston.

9am - 12noon, flea market at the East Huntspill village hall. Lots of stalls plus full English breakfast.

10am - 12noon, farmers market and bazaar at Brent Knoll parish hall. Lots of locally produced food and drink

10am - join the Somerset Walking Club for a nine mile walk around Thurlbear, Taunton. Park at Thurlbear church.

Tuesday, January 12

10.30am - 12.30pm, watercolour art class meets at the Bridgwater Arts Centre. Led by Jane Wright, this is a friendly weekly club for all levels of ability.

7pm - 9pm, Burnham camera club meets in the BAY Centre, Cassis Close. Open to anyone whatever your skill level.

8.30pm - folk music at the Waterfront Bar, Burnham. Live Music. Come as you are and expect anything.

9.30am - 11.30am - mums and tots club meets at Burnham Baptist church in College Street. Make new friends and enjoy a cuppa. £1 adult and child, 50p per extra child.

10:00am – 11:30am, the Listening Place, a weekly drop-in for people wishing to access the Highbridge foodbank. St. John the Evangelist, Highbridge.

1.40pm - the new season races start at Taunton Racecourse, England's youngest jumps racecourse only a few minutes drive from Taunton. (times are provisional and subject to race day conditions)

7pm - 9pm, North Sedgemoor local history group meets at The King Alfred School, Highbridge. This month's talk is: Burnham's original purpose built lighthouse.
