10am - 11.30am, coffee morning at the Community Centre, Berrow Road, Burnham.

2pm - the Barndance Group meets meets in the Methodist Hall, College Street, Burnham on the 2nd, 4th and 5th Thursdays of the month between 2pm. and 4pm. A fee is payable on attendance. This is a friendly group of men and women who have great fun and enjoy themselves. You do not need a partner — we will find one to dance with you. It may, however, not be someone of the opposite sex. 10am - 12noon, the Latin Group meets every Friday morning at the community centre in Burnham. Newcomers welcome but should have some Latin and be strongly motivated to advance their knowledge.

7.30pm - enjoy an amazing night of top quality jazz with The Annika Skoogh Quartet, an exciting band fast gaining a reputation as a force to be reckoned with and led by the Swedish singer Annika Skoogh. CICCIC, Paul Street, Taunton.

8pm - tribute band, The Total Who Show perform at the Bridgwater Arts Centre. These guys bring the authentic sound of one of the UK's greatest rock bands.

Saturday, January 23

10am - 4pm, Day of Prayer for Christian unity at the Methodist church, College Street in Burnham.

1.05pm - first race gets underway at Taunton Racecourse, England's youngest jumps racecourse and one of the most beautifully located in the country, with outstanding views to the wooded slopes of the Blackdown Hills. All times are provisional and subject to race day conditions. Tel: 01823 337172.

Sunday, January 24

4pm, the Bereavment Cafe meets every third Sunday of the month at St Andrew's church, Burnham. The cafe is run by trained volunteers who provide a safe place for anyone affected by bereavement.

7.15pm - blow away the winter blues with the talented and hilarious Graffiti Classics who play classical music on violins and bass and cello and make you giggle too. The group pair comedy and fun tunes and so you finish the evening much happier than when you started. Neroche Hall, Bickenhall, Taunton.

Tuesday, January 26

11am - coffee morning and fellowship at the Gospel Tabernacle church, Old Burnham Road, Highbridge. 12noon service followed by lunch. Donations welcome towards costs.

Wednesday, January 27

2pm - 4pm, the Card Making group meets alternate Wednesdays in Room 2 of the community centre. For more details, contact Heather Major on 01278 795737. The aim of the group is to have an enjoyable afternoon, learn a new skill and take home a card at the end of the session.
