AFTER a fantastic series of sell out concerts in 2015, The Burnham and Highbridge Band returns to the Princess Theatre for its opening concert of 2016.

This is the band's first full season under the baton of Stephen Sykes, and the new programme promises to be the best yet.

If spring hasn't sprung for you by the time you get to this concert then this evening will certainly get you in the mood.

The band first started in 1945 and last year celebrated it's seventieth anniversary with a sell out concert at The Princess Theatre.

Originally called the Burnham and Highbridge Services Band, formed at the end of hostilities in Europe, the band was soon recognised as the official town band, making its first public performance a year later.

From carnivals to contests, carols and concerts, the band has been an active presence in the local community ever since including regular concerts throughout the year at the Princess Theatre.

More recently it has enjoyed sell-out cafe-style concerts with themed music and food to match.

The Burnham and Highbridge Band is a friendly non-contesting brass band and works hard to continuously improve playing abilities and musicianship. If you would like to join just drop along to any rehearsal night. These are held on Wednesdays, starting at 7.30pm.

Sunday April 24, 7.45pm.
