FAMILIES are invited to attend an educational weekend at a popular South West attraction to learn about life at a working dairy.

Puxton Park, outside Weston-super-Mare, is holding a two-day Dairy Weekend, on April 9 and 10, to help aid the education of youngsters.

The event will showcase its 150 pedigree Holstein and help families to connect with farming.

Puxton Park hopes the informative days will offer a real insight into the life of its cows and its farmers, with detailed farm tours and exclusive access behind the scenes.

Visitors will witness milking demonstrations and be talked through the process as it happens, and then learn how the milk is used to make ice cream.

Farmers will also demonstrate how to transform the award-winning cows from a field style, to being show ready.

Puxton’s Alistair Mead, said: “We offer a wide range of educational experiences to bring education to life.

“Dairy weekends are highly popular; as are our lambing events and both allow families to really connect with farming.

“It is a great experience for children to come along and learn where a glass of milk actually comes from, rather than believing it is just out of a carton.”
