SOMERSET’S trains and stations of yesteryear feature in a not to be missed event for all rail enthusiasts at the Bridgwater Arts Centre.

Mike Beale will give an illustrated talk on the social history of the railways of Somerset and Dorset 50 years after they closed focusing on the impact on local communities. When train lines across the country were drastically changed or removed altogether, it proved to be a dramatic change in British transport and Somerset did not escape the repercussions.

In addition to Mike's talk, artist, Kate McStraw, has put together an incredible memory museum of objects and oral history of the lines which will be on display. It promises to be a riviting evening.

Friday, June 3 at 7.30pm.
