THE immensely talented Bridgwater Amateur Operatic Society will be lighting up the town hall with its rendition of Scrooge - The Musical.
The group is in the final stages of rehearsals and will be leaving audiences spell-bound from November 25-28 with spectacular special effects and talented vocalists.
Scrooge was written by Leslie Bricusse in 1970 and starred Albert Finney as the miserly moneylender. It was adapted as a musical in the 1990s and was revived in 2005 when Tommy Steele took the lead role.
The society has made an effort to encourage school parties to see a special preview performance of the show on November 24, and show director Alan Calaminus will be running a series of Scrooge workshops as part of its outreach effort to encourage a flow of junior members into its ranks.
