New Rope String Band coming to Princess Theatre

FOLKFEST presents the New Rope String Band at Burnham’s Princess Theatre and Arts Centre on Friday, August 31, at 7.30pm.

Combining superb musicianship with side-splitting comic genius, the New Rope String Band (below) are truly unique entertainers.

Elements of circus, clowning, vaudeville, slapstick and sheer inspired silliness are spliced with some sublime acoustic music from various world traditions in some precision-honed yet uproarious performances that have delighted audiences from as far afield as Borneo’s Sarawak rainforest to the Shetland Folk Festival.

Equally at home in tiny village halls or on major festival stages, these maniac minstrels are now touring again as a three-piece, mixing up long-time favourite routines with ever-evolving new material.

From musical tennis to deconstructed nursery rhymes, Python-esque absurdism to pyrotechnics and live interactive film, expect the hilariously unexpected.

The New Rope String Band is made up of Pete Challoner, Tim Dalling and Jock Tyldesley.

Tickets are £10 on 01278-784464 and at princesstheatreandarts|centre.co.uk; for details about the band visit newropestring|band.co.uk
