Ruggerites' 82 hand wins Knockout Cup

RUGGERITES won the Knockout Cup and Likely Lads the Second Chance Cup in the Puriton & District Skittles League's finals.

In the Knockout final at the Basonbridge Inn, Ruggerites and Somerset Vaults were tied after the first three hands, then Vaults pulled six on the fourth.

Ruggerites came back on the fifth hand with two spares in their 82 to pull 15 pins and they gained six more on the sixth hand, winning by 11.

In the Second Chance final at the Artillery Arms, Swannies pulled only one pin all night as Likely Lads hit two-hands in the 80s, three in the 70s and two in the high 60s to win by 66.

First-division winners Crown Victorians took the Champions of Champions title at Highbridge Social Club, pulling pins on the first four hands to go 32 up. Swannies came back on the next three and needed 81 to win, but lost by seven.

The league's presentation evening is at Highbridge Social Club on Saturday, June 7 (8.30pm).
