Oral health message goes to villages

PEOPLE living in villages across Somerset are being advised of the need for oral hygiene during National Smile Month.

Somerset Primary Care NHS Dental Service is running a Brush for Health campaign from May 18 to June 17.

Members of the Oral Health Promotion team will highlight that people with gum disease are more likely to suffer other health problems by travelling round with the mobile libraries in Somerset.

They will take over a consultation room to talk to people about how to keep their mouths healthy and offering information on how to get NHS dental treatment.

Rob Munday, clinical director of the Somerset PCDS, said: "Good oral healthcare is vital for a healthy mouth and body and we're pleased to be able to take this message to the rural community Somerset."
