Wedmore father and son grow giant 'mowstache’

A FATHER and son are attempting to grow the world’s largest ‘mowstache’ in a field near Wedmore to support men’s health charities.

William Gilbert and his father John, of grass seed company British Seed Houses Limited (BSH), have been growing a giant grass moustache in support of ‘Movember’, the men’s health charity.

The giant version of the logo used by the charity is around 120ft wide and 40ft across. It was sown with the kind permission of farmer, Andrew Cook, who is BSH Southern Counties area technical representative.

William Gilbert, managing director of BSH, said: “When Dad said it would be fun to do something on a giant scale we all jumped at the chance.

“With so many men working in our industry Movember is an ideal cause for us to get involved with, especially as men’s health issues often get ignored. All the male colleagues here will be taking part and we hope our customers will too.”

November usually sees men across the country sprout a top-lip tache in support of the charity, but BSH has also pledged £1,000 to the cause.
