Hallowe'en patrols stepped up in Burnham and Highbridge

HALLOWE’EN may have a tendency to bring out the mischief in people but police say they are increasing patrols to tackle tricksters.
Burnham and Highbridge police teams organised a series of events as ‘trick or treaters’ prepare for the popular holiday tomorrow (October 31).
Neighbourhood Police Team Sergeant Ian Kennett told the Weekly News: “We have put up lots of posters and will be handing out leaflets at events this week informing people about firework safety and crime prevention.
“We have been reassuring elderly residents and handing them posters letting tick or treaters know not to knock on their doors.
“We’ve also visited local shops and asked them not to sell eggs to children.”
Sgt Kennett said although the Burnham and Highbridge areas were not too bad for crimes over the Hallowe’en period, there would still be plenty of staff patrolling the streets.
He said: “There will be a number of patrols throughout the neighbourhood and I would remind residents they can speak to our PCSOs if they have any concerns.”
