SUPPORTERS of Secret World Wildlife Rescue braved the wild winds and rain to take part in a fundraising walk.

More than 30 people took up the ‘Brean 14’ 14k or 6k challenge by running, walking or cycling between Warren Farm Holiday Centre and the Lighthouse on the beaches of Brean and Berrow.

Many wore Halloween costumes and Halloween activities were held at the Sundowner Café in Brean to help raise funds for Secret World’s £4.4 million Call of the Wild Appeal, backed by the Weekly News, to build a Wildlife Hospital and Education Centre.

Charity founder Pauline Kidner said: “As the UK’s biggest growth region over the past 20 years, the South West is now experiencing more traffic, road accidents, pollution and house building – our wildlife is in trouble as a result.

“With more and more animals and birds being orphaned, injured or falling ill, often through human activity, the demands on our resources are continually growing so support from Brean 14 will help us considerably.”
