THESE youngsters from Burnham’s Hillview Junior Carnival Club will be in action on Saturday night (November 3).
Hillview is one of the 107 entries taking part in Bridgwater Carnival – the largest illuminated procession in the UK.
The event begins at 7pm, and Hillview is one of the earliest starters, at number 16 in the procession.
The club’s entry is called The Hollywood Hotel 1939 – so make sure to give them a cheer!
Around 150,000 people are expected to fill the town and anybody planning to join them should be aware many roads, including the most direct route in from Burnham and Highbridge – Bristol Road – will be closed between Wylds Road and the Cross Rifles pub from 4pm.
Our sister paper, the Bridgwater Mercury, has an eight-page carnival preview this week, including details of all the road closures, and the day events taking place in Bridgwater on Saturday, from 10.30am.
Highbridge and Burnham Carnival normally follows on the Monday after Bridgwater Carnival.
However, because Bridgwater’s parade is on a Saturday for the first time, there has been a shake-up of the order of the Somerset County Guy Fawkes circuit.
Highbridge and Burnham’s procession is on Monday, November 12, and there will be a full preview in next week’s Weekly News.
