CAMPAIGNERS against proposals for a wind farm at Rooksbridge fear if the application went to appeal they could be met with an ongoing battle.

Consultation for the application by Broadview Energy to build four 130m turbines on land at Pilrow Farm came to a close last weekend and it is now under consideration by Sedgemoor District Council.

But campaign group NoPilrow have voiced concerns after the same developer announced it was investigating a revised scheme for another wind farm at a site near Kimbolton, following a decision by Huntingdonshire District Council to reject a proposal at the same site.

NoPilrow spokesman David Maund said: “In March campaigners thought they had won after an appeal to build four 125-metre wind turbines near Kimbolton was rejected.

“However, I’ve read that Broadview is now considering a revised application for the same area.

“One can reasonably assume that, should Pilrow wind farm be refused consent, Broadview will consider treading the same path and launch a planning appeal, followed by a fresh planning application should the appeal fail.”

But, speaking about Kimbolton, Broadview’s project manager, Tom Cosgrove, said: “No decision has yet been made to prepare and submit a planning application.

“Any decision to that effect will be subject to the findings of further detailed studies, including proper consideration of local and national planning policy and the Government inspector’s comments.”

He added: “In the Kimbolton case, the planning inspector highlighted specific things which could be improved.

"The majority of the time it is unlikely we would resubmit an application."
