RESIDENTS at the RNIB’s Kathleen Chambers House in Burnham have splashed out on a selection of festive gifts and bid for dozens of fantastic auction prizes at their annual Christmas Fayre.

Stalls selling a host of handmade crafts, knitwear, cards and jewellery were available at the home for blind and partially-sighted older people.

There was also a silent auction with an assortment of lavish lots up for grabs, including an iPad, a weekend break for two at a Jurys Inn hotel and golf lessons at Burnham and Berrow Golf Club.

Members of fund-raising organisation Moose International were on hand to help out during the event, which raised more than £1,060 for residents.

Sue Watts, from the home, said: “It was a lovely day.

“The auction was certainly the highlight because it generated a lot of interest and a lot of money to be spent on treating the residents.”
