Poor weather causes problems on M5

POOR driving conditions has caused problems for motorists on the M5 this afternoon (December 31).
At midday, a pick-up truck overturned following an accident between junctions 20 for Clevedon and 19 for Portishead.
At its height, three lanes were closed and large tailbacks stretched towards junction 18.
Reports were that the motorist had suffered a minor injury and some dogs which were being transported in the vehicle were moved to the hard shoulder while the accident is dealt with.
At 1pm, one lane on the southbound carriageway between junctions 26 (Wellington) and 27 (Tiverton) was closed due to flooding.
Then, shortly before 2pm, two lanes were closed on the southbound carriageway between junctions 22 (Burnham) and 23 (Bridgwater North) because of an accident.
The three incidents had been cleared by 4pm.
