A SCHOOL in Burnham is celebrating after receiving a rating of ‘outstanding’ in a report from the Diocese of Bath and Wells.
St Andrew’s Church of England Junior School in Dunstan Road received the prestigious rating in a National Society Statutory Inspection of Anglican Schools (SIAS) report.
The report praised the school’s ‘excellent Christian ethos’ as being well led by head teacher Gavin Morris and fully supported by staff, governors and parents.
The report reads: “The relationship between staff, governors, parents, the church and community support all children and contribute to the outstanding Christian distinctiveness of St Andrew’s.
“The support from local Anglican and Methodist churches has a positive impact on school ethos.”
The children were seen to make good progress and were praised in the report for their excellent behaviour.
Head teacher Gavin Morris told the Weekly News: “We are thrilled with the rating. We were voted ‘outstanding’ in the previous inspection too.
“Parents have received a copy of the report and I would like to thank everyone for their contribution.
“Outstanding is rarely awarded and we should all be very proud of this achievement.”
