THESE Year Six boys from Hugh Sexey Middle School won silver in the Danone English Schools’ Football Association County Final.
The team, who had earlier won their area tournament, went through to the county finals on Friday, Jan 11.
The finals saw them kick off against 12 other schools who had also won their respective area tournaments across the county.
The Hugh Sexey students won through the qualifying rounds, finishing top in their group, before entering the knock out stages of the semi-final. After winning the semi-final, they moved onto the final.
School spokesman Jo Farmer said: “Even after extra time, the scores were still level so it moved on to penalties.
“Sadly, the very last kick was brilliantly saved by their opponent’s keeper and Hugh Sexey had to settle for the silver medal slot.
“This was a great performance and bodes very well for the future.”
