TWO more arrests have been made in a police crackdown on drug crime across Burnham and Highbridge.
Police carried out a drugs warrant on Monday morning (January 21) at Ringstone, West Huntspill, with staff from Homes in Sedgemoor, and a quantity of suspected cannabis was recovered.
Evidence of cultivation was also discovered and a 20-year-old man was arrested and charged with possession of cannabis. He will be appearing at Taunton Deane Magistrates Court on February 13.
The arrest led to a search of a flat in Highbridge Quay, where more drugs were found, and a 23-year-old man has since been interviewed and will be appearing at the same court on a date to be fixed.
In both cases the tenant faces the possibility of being evicted and steps are being taken to progress this.
The action follows a drugs raid in Highbridge, reported by the Weekly News last week, where £40,000 of suspected cannabis was recovered.
