AN RAF reserve officer in the Air Cadets has been commended for his efforts in promoting his Burnham squadron.
Flying Officer Chris Garrett RAF VR(T) was praised for his media relations efforts in promoting 290 (Weston and Burnham) Squadron over the past five years.
The award was presented by Commanding Officer of Devon and Somerset Wing, Wing Commander B. Wills-Pope DL MBE on behalf of the Commandant Air Cadets, Air Commodore B Cooper KBE.
Chris, 30, said: “This was a total shock. I had no idea I was receiving this award and I’m very thankful.
“I am only grateful that I have taken the opportunity to be part of the air cadets and experience the amazing activities on offer over the years.”
Chris, who has been with the cadets since 1996, was also recognised for his dedication to the Squadron and Air Training Corps.
Wing Commander Wills-Pope also promoted Ryan Ludlow, 18, to the highest cadet rank in the Air cadets, Cadet Warrant Officer.
