WE'RE giving you the chance to make the day of a special young person by nominating them for a Pride of Somerset Youth Award – but hurry!
Your County Gazette has again teamed up with Rotary International and BBC Somerset for this year's awards, which will see prize money of more than £2,000 distributed to the winners.
The awards are sponsored by Avon & Somerset Constabulary, Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service, Taunton Rotary Club and Somerset County Cricket Club and Museum.
They will be presented at a ceremony hosted by BBC Somerset's Emma Britton at Somerset College's Conference Centre on March 8.
The awards are not split into categories – we just want to hear about young people who have shown extra spirit.
It could be achievement in sport and music to caring for others and the environment – or perhaps a one-off act of heroism.
Tony Murray, of the Rotary Club of Taunton, said: “The awards are all about recognising young people for doing things right and the presentation ceremony is a chance for the community to say thank you and well done for their efforts.”
The prize money, of more than £2,000, will be divided between the winners.
Send the nominee's details and 200 words on their achievements to alex.cameron@nqsw.co.uk
Include your own name and contact details.
You can post entries to Youth Awards, Newsquest Somerset, St James Street, Taunton TA1 1JR or nominate on-line at somersetcountygazette.co.uk/youth_awards
The deadline is February 13.
