Planning begins for Burnham's Scarecrow Day
THE Friends of Marine Cove, in Burnham, and Sedgemoor District Council, are appealing for donations of unwanted clothing or straw material for a scarecrow themed event.
Taking place at Marine Cove on July 6, the nautical-themed Scarecrow Day will invite people to make a scarecrow or fisherman, which they can keep.
Jacqui Strong, Marine Cove community gardener, said: “Despite sounding very novel this is not a new idea; similar things happen in many parts of the country.
“The Friends of Marine Cove wanted to be involved this year linking the garden, a nautical theme and as a way of encouraging volunteers of all ages to make something, and get together in the garden.”
To donate materials, contact the council's community development team on 0845-4082540 and for more information on the event, ask for Jacqui Strong on the same number.

The next event at Marine Cove is a free Easter egg hunt on Easter Saturday, March 30, from 10am until 2pm, weather permitting.
