YEAR Seven pupils from Hugh Sexey Middle School near Wedmore enjoyed a three-day residential trip to Skern Lodge in North Devon.

The trip was based around outdoor activities which included high beam balancing, abseiling and climbing. The tasks were demanding and challenged some children to ‘face their fears’.

Headteacher Jenny Venning said: “It was a great chance for the pupils to work together and develop their team building skills. The amazing support and encouragement that they gave to each other meant that everyone had a go.”

The highlight for most pupils was the new activity of river rafting, which involved the children working in teams of nine rowing down the River Torridge.
