AN RAF serviceman is supporting a charity which trains assistance dogs for seriously injured soldiers.
Andy Hutton, from the RAF Brize Norton, brought his Golden Retriever, Jack, to Blake Veterinary Group’s surgery in Burnham to have a kennel cough vaccination – of which 25p will be donated to charity.
Blake Vets is supporting the Pounds for Hounds fund raising campaign, which is aiming to raise £20,000 to buy and train a dog to assist injured servicemen through the Hounds for Heroes charity.
Andy said: “I have completed a tour in Afghanistan and have seen firsthand the devastation injury can bring to the lives of wounded servicemen. “A charity such as Hounds for Heroes, that endeavours to give these servicemen back a degree of independence in their lives, is something which I whole heartedly support and would encourage other pet owners to do the same.”
Blake Veterinary Group is continuing their support of Hounds for Heroes by hosting a fund raising open day at their Bridgwater Surgery on Sunday, July 14.
