THE YEAR Nine football team from The King Alfred School in Highbridge took on Nailsea School for the Somerset County Cup.
The U14 Somerset Schools Cup Final was held at Street Football Club and saw a 4-0 win by KAS, despite a very strong defence by the Nailsea team.
The KAS team lost to Nailsea the previous year and the team knew they would have to be at their best to be successful.
KAS head teacher, Andrew Owen, said: βTo win this cup is a fantastic achievement for all of the boys and captain Paul Grant can be very proud of his team, as we all are.β
The game started with a 0-0 half time score line, but after a half time pep talk by coach Tipler the team took the lead after two minutes - thanks to a fine strike from Ryan Stiles from outside of the area.
A second goal came from Jordan Cann, followed by two further goals by Finlay Paul and Fred Berry.
