SEVERAL organisations from the Burnham and Highbridge area have applied for funding from Sedgemoor District Council’s grants panel.
They include: Highbridge Furniture (requested £1,000 towards the purchase of a bigger van); Friends of Apex Park Improvements Group (£1,000 to fund activities planned for National Play Day on August 7); East Huntspill Sports Pavilion (£1,000 for a new heating system); Burnham and Highbridge Sea Cadets (£300 for a remote indicating smoke alarm system); and the East Brent Village Hall Management Committee (£1,000 towards the cost of overlaying the car park).
The council’s grants budget for this year is £95,510 and its grants award sub-committee will consider these applications and others at its next meeting today (June 4).
