Woman celebrates 100th birthday despite battling serious illness as a baby
7:30pm Wednesday 21st August 2013 in News
A WOMAN who battled serious illness at just six months old has celebrated her 100th birthday.
Madeline Goulding celebrated the occasion in style at Kathleen Chambers House, operated by the Royal National Institute for the Blind.
Madeline was afflicted with whooping cough and pneumonia when she was a baby and was not expected to survive.
But she celebrated her milestone with her 94-year-old sister Marjorie Knight and some cake with staff and residents at the home.
Madeline was born in Swansea and moved from Reading to Kathleen Chambers House around three years ago.
